Step 6: “Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.”
Devotion: Readiness Before Jesus
Step 6 is a step of willingness.
After Step 5, we have seen the truth about ourselves more clearly. Now the question becomes: Am I ready to let Jesus with the help of the Holy Spirt change me?
Willingness does not mean we feel ready. It means we are open. It is a quiet surrender that says, “Jesus, I am willing for You to do what I cannot do on my own.”
This step shifts us from awareness to transformation.
Jesus never forces change. He invites it. He waits for our willingness.
Bible Example:
When Jesus called His disciples, they were not perfect. Yet they were willing to follow. That willingness allowed Jesus to shape their lives over time.
Reflection Questions:
1. Am I truly willing to let Jesus change the areas He has revealed to me?
2. Where do I feel resistance or hesitation?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I am willing, even if my willingness feels small. Help me trust You to begin the work of change in me. Amen.
Action Step:
Bring your willingness — even if it feels small — before Jesus.
Offer Him your heart honestly and ask Him to increase your willingness. Remembering Jesus works in those who are willing, not those who are perfect.
Bible Scripture to consider
“For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose.” Philippians 2:13
