Step 6: “Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.”
Devotion:
Willingness requires letting go.
Many of the attitudes and behaviors we discovered in Step 5 have been with us for a long time. Even if they have hurt us, they may still feel familiar or protective.
Step 6 invites us to release them into Jesus’ hands.
We are not asked to remove them ourselves. We are asked to become willing for Him to do it.
Letting go is an act of trust. It means believing that Jesus’ way is better than our own.
Bible Example:
The rich young ruler (Matthew 19) struggled to let go of what he valued most. His unwillingness kept him from fully following Jesus.
Reflection Questions:
- What attitudes or behaviors am I still holding onto?
2. What am I afraid might happen if I fully surrender these to Jesus?
Prayer:
Jesus, help me release what I have been holding onto. Teach me to trust You more than my fears. Amen.
Action Step:
Bring before Jesus one area you are struggling to release.
Surrender it to Him in prayer, trusting His care.
Remember: Willingness begins when we loosen our grip and trust His.
Bible Scripture to consider
“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow Me.”— Matthew 16:24
