Step 6: “Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.”
Devotion:
Step 6 reminds us that we are not the ones who change ourselves — Jesus is.
Our role is willingness. His role is transformation.
Many of us have tried to fix ourselves through effort, discipline, or promises. But lasting change comes through surrender to Christ.
When we remain close to Him, He begins shaping our hearts, renewing our minds, and guiding our choices.
Transformation is not instant perfection. It is a process of walking with Jesus daily
Bible Example:
Jesus described Himself as the vine and us as the branches (John 15). Growth happens when we remain connected to Him.
Reflection Questions:
- Where have I been trying to change in my own strength?
2. What would it look like to rely on Jesus instead?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I cannot change myself, but You can. Help me stay close to You and trust Your work in my life. Amen.
Action Step:
Spend time with Jesus today in prayer and Scripture.
Release the pressure to fix yourself and simply remain close to Him.
Bible Scripture to consider
“Apart from Me you can do nothing.” – John 15:5
