STEP 8— Preparing for Step 9 (Week 4)

12-Steps with Jesus - Guide (Step 8)

Step 8: “Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.”

Devotion:

Step 8 prepares us for Step 9.

This week is not about making amends yet. It is about allowing Jesus to complete the work of willingness within us.

Some amends may be simple conversations. Some may require years of patience. Some may never be possible in the way we imagine.

Our responsibility is not to control the outcome. Our responsibility is to obey Jesus and forgive.

He is the One who heals relationships, softens hearts, and restores lives.

As we complete Step 8, we trust that He is already going before us, preparing the way.

Biblical Example:

After his conversion, Saul sought fellowship with the believers who had every reason to fear him (Acts 9). Though trust took time, God began restoring relationships through a transformed life.

Changed hearts produce changed relationships.

Reflection Questions

1. Am I trusting Jesus with the outcome of future amends?

2. Have I become willing to follow Him wherever He leads in Step 9?

 Action Step:

Review your completed Step 8 list prayerfully.

Thank Jesus for every way He has softened your heart and prepared you for what lies ahead.

Remember: Willingness is the bridge between repentance and reconciliation, and Jesus walks with us across it.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for preparing my heart through Step 8. Continue to fill me with humility, courage, and love as I prepare to make amends. May every conversation and every action reflect Your grace and bring glory to You. In Your holy name, Amen.

Bible Scripture to consider
