Step 8: “Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.”
Devotion:
As we prepare to make amends, we remember something essential:
We have first received mercy.
Jesus has forgiven us far more than we could ever repay. Because we have experienced His grace, we are invited to extend grace to others.
Step 8 is not about earning God’s forgiveness. It is about living out the forgiveness we have already received through Christ.
As we reflect on the cross, we realize that reconciliation has always been God’s heart.
He reconciled us to Himself so that we might become ministers of reconciliation.
Biblical Example:
While hanging on the cross, Jesus prayed,
“Father, forgive them…”
Even in suffering, His heart was toward reconciliation. He remains our perfect example.
Reflection Questions:
- How has Jesus shown mercy to me?
2. How does His forgiveness shape my willingness to seek reconciliation with others?
Action Step:
Spend time thanking Jesus for His forgiveness.
Pray for each person on your Step 8 list, asking God to bless them and prepare both hearts for His perfect timing.
Remember: Those who have received mercy are called to become agents of mercy.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for forgiving me completely. Fill my heart with the same grace You have shown me, that I may become an instrument of Your peace. Amen.
