Scripture Reading

“For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.” 1 Timothy 6:7 NIV

Thought For the Day

Do you have fulfillment in your life, or is life full of trouble, disappointment, and displeasure? Scripture suggests that fulfillment comes not from the things we have or the situations we are going through but from our identity and who we are.

As we grow in our relationship with God through his Son, Jesus Christ, we understand whose we are and what we have. Envy causes us to look horizontally at what others have, so we are never satisfied. We chase after money, power, or status, thinking about how it can fill our lives with fulfillment and happiness.

Meditation for the Day

Fulfillment invites us to look vertically at God. When we look in His direction, we know He is enough. Fulfillment is the secret to inner peace. It remembers the naked truth that we brought nothing into the world and can take nothing out of it. Am I truly fulfilled putting my treasure in the things of heaven and not here on earth?

Prayer for the day

LORD JESUS, YOU have taught me that the heart can only love one thing at a time. When I choose to love God, I discover the joy and peace that only YOU can bring. My daily challenge is to be focused on staying in YOUR presence, focusing on building up treasures in heaven rather than here on earth. It is by following YOU and doing this where I find true fulfillment. Amen.
