Step 6: “Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.”
Devotion:
Step 7 begins with humility.
After becoming willing in Step 6, we now come before Jesus asking Him to remove the shortcomings and attitudes that continue to separate us from His likeness.
Humility is not thinking less of ourselves. It is thinking honestly about ourselves while depending fully on Christ.
Pride says, “I can handle this myself.”
Humility says, “Jesus, I need You.”
This step reminds us that transformation does not come through self-effort alone. Lasting change comes through surrender to the grace and power of Jesus.
Bible Example:
The tax collector in Luke 18 would not even lift his eyes to heaven but prayed, “God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” Jesus said this humble man went home justified before God.
Reflection Questions:
1. Where do I still struggle to depend fully on Jesus?
2. What does humility before Christ look like in my life today?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I cannot change myself without You. Teach me true humility and help me depend on Your grace each day. Amen.
Action Step:
Spend time quietly before Jesus acknowledging your need for Him.
Ask Him to help you walk in humility rather than self-reliance.
Remember: Humility opens our hearts to the transforming grace of Jesus.
Bible Scripture to consider
